First female professional American Footballer in men's game makes big impact on debut

Remember the name: Jennifer Welter.

JENNIFER WELTER BECAME the first-ever female to feature in a non-kicker or placekick-holder role in a men’s professional football game at the weekend.

The 36-year-old was subsequently praised after taking some heavy hits during the game between Texas Revolution and the North Texas Crunch.

Speaking after the game, Welter recalled the experience to The Dallas Morning News:

“I said, ‘Is that all you got?’ “They (Crunch players) were getting all alive, and I had to say something. I didn’t want them to think I was intimidated.”
