SSE AIRTRICITY LEAGUE First Division champions Waterford already have their title tucked away in the south-east, but there was a slight consolation for second-placed Cobh Ramblers as they ran out winners this evening.
St Colman’s Park hosted a tight affair, but Cobh ran out 2-1 winners after goals from Dave Hurley and substitute Ian Mylod either side of half-time sealed the win.
The 19-year-old sent a rocket into the back of the net as his side drew confidence from the effort and went on to dominate.
Mylod was sprung from the bench and fired home to double Ramblers’ lead with just over 15 minutes to play, but Waterford struck back in the 84th minute — Dean Walsh nodding in with a consolation goal.

Promotion to the top flight has already been secured, so they can look forward to Premier Division football next year.

Elsewhere, Shelbourne backed up their midweek Leinster Senior Cup victory with a gutsy 3-1 win over Cabinteely.
Adam Evans hit a brace and James English added another were enough to secure the three points and a fourth place finish for Shels.
Athlone Town finished the season rock bottom of the table, with UCD firing four goals past them to pile on further misery. Longford Town meanwhile, finished fifth, leapfrogging Cabinteely after a 1-0 win over Wexford.
