DAVID BECKHAM BOWED out this week, ending a career many of us first watched through a floppy curtains hair style in the 90s right through to what we like to call the ‘solar-panel for a sex machine’ era of recent years.

And God, that almost makes us feel as old as when we make an involuntary noise getting out of the sofa of an evening to get the hot chocolate on.
