MMA legend Fedor returns from three-year absence to win by first-round TKO

It was as straightforward as expected for the Russian veteran at Rizin Fighting Federation in Japan.

AN ICON OF mixed martial arts returned to action today and took just over three minutes to pick up the 35th win of his professional career.

Facing overmatched kickboxer Jaideep Singh (2-1), Fedor Emelianenko (35-4-1) won by TKO after 3:02 of the first round for Rizin Fighting Federation, a newly-formed organisation in Japan.

The bout was Fedor’s first since June 2012, when the former Pride heavyweight champion defeated Pedro Rizzo on an M-1 card in his native Russia.

Now 39, Fedor’s next move is unclear, but speculation about a long-awaited move to the UFC is now likely to intensify, with Bellator another potential destination.
