St Patrick’s Athletic comprehensively beat UCD4-0 at Richmond Park, as Christy Fagan (2), Jake Kelly and an own goal from Gareth Matthews completed an easy win for the Saints.
There were few difficulties either for Sligo, as they triumphed 2-0 against Waterford United.

Danny Ventre opened the scoring on 21 minutes for the reigning league champions, before Anthony Elding doubled their lead on the stroke of half time.
Another relatively one-sided affair took place in the City Calling Stadium, with Longford Town winning 4-0 against Pike Rovers.
David O’Sullivan put the First Division leaders ahead early on, before he scored twice more after the break, with a last-minute Mark Salmon penalty putting the icing on the cake for the hosts.
Meanwhile, Cobh Ramblers earned a thrilling 4-3 win over St Patrick’s CYFC.
Goals from Brian Fitzgerald, Conor Meade (2) and Bobby Donoghue gave the visitors a 4-0 lead, before the Dubliners threatened a dramatic comeback, with Thomas Dunne (2) and Brian Mooney giving their opponents a considerable fright.
Derry outclassed Blarney United 4-0 in O’Shea Park, with a Rory Patterson hat-trick and a Rory Curran goal ultimately putting the hosts to the sword.
There was no upset either as Limerick beat Glenville 3-0. Rory Gaffney’s goal gave them a 1-0 lead at half-time, before himself and Stephen Bradley added further strikes after the break.
Elsewhere, Bluebell United and Athlone Town will need to play again, after they drew 2-2 in John Hyland Park.
Tony Griffiths, Ian Sweeney (2) and Robert Douglas were all on target on the night.
