Fabregas wants to stay at Barcelona, insists Tito Vilanova

Manchester United have tabled a €30m bid for the playmaker.

BARCELONA BOSS Tito Vilanova has confirmed Cesc Fabregas is determined to stay at Camp Nou, despite offers from Manchester United.

The Premier League club are on the hunt for midfield reinforcements in the close-season and have already been beaten to the signing of Thiago Alcantara, who left the Catalan giants for Bayern Munich.

But Vilanova, who confirmed United were in the market for Fabregas’ signature, insists the former Arsenal captain does not want to follow Thiago out the exit door. The Barca boss said: “I know he has received offers from other teams but Cesc has told me he wants to stay here. He has told me it is his dream to stay with Barcelona.

“He doesn’t want to go to other teams for money reasons or playing time. He knows there is competition for places here, but his decision is to stay.

“I am relaxed about the situation. “It is a good sign that the club gets offers for our players, it shows we have players other teams want. But Fabregas wants to stay.”

Vilanova also reaffirmed his desire to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva, but confirmed the club have other targets in mind for defensive additions.

He added: “I’d like to sign him, but he’s not the only person we are looking at for that position.”
