Fabian Delph's Manchester City debut didn't last very long

Midfielder stretchered off after just 18 minutes of Real Madrid friendly.

FABIAN DELPH’S MANCHESTER City debut lasted just 18 minutes on Friday.

The midfielder pulled up with a hamstring injury early in City’s Melbourne friendly against Real Madrid and was stretchered off.

City described the injury as a “tweak” but took no chances as Delph was replaced by Jesus Navas.

The reaction towards Delph, who publicly committed to Aston Villa days before signing a five-year deal at City, was as unforgiving as you might expect:

90,000 fans packed into the Melbourne Cricket Ground for the pre-season friendly.

Goals from Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo, Pepe and Denis Cheryshev helped Madrid to a 4-1 win.
