Moments after the biggest win of her career, Eugenie Bouchard was asked about her dream date

Canada’s new star will face Li Na in the Australian Open semi finals.

THE WORLD IS getting to know Canadian teen tennis star Eugenie Bouchard.

The 19-year-old had the biggest win of her young career today when she beat Ana Ivanovic and booked her place in the Australian Open semi-finals against Li Na.

There are a lot of pretty cool storylines here. Aside from this being Bouchard’s first Grand Slam semi, it is also the first time a Canadian has reached this stage at the Australian Open.

In fact, it’s the first time the country has had a representative in the semis of a tennis major since Carling Bassett in 1984.

Sam Smith had the first interview with Bouchard and after a couple of minutes talking about the match and her growing ‘Genie Army’ fanbase, she threw out a curveball.

“You’re getting a lot of fans here,” Smith said. “A lot of them are male and they want to know if you could date anyone in the world of sport, of movies — I’m sorry, they asked me to say this — who would you date?”

Bouchard looked a little embarrassed by the question. Her answer? Justin Bieber.
