Sterling starts as England make 6 changes for Iceland clash

The Manchester City winger returns despite struggling in England’s games against Russia and Wales.

RAHEEM STERLING IS back in the England team for tonight’s Euro 2016 last-16 tie against Iceland in Nice (8pm).

The return of the Manchester City winger to the starting line-up is one of six changes England boss Roy Hodgson has made from their scoreless draw with Slovakia.

Sterling came in for plenty of criticism following poor performances in England’s draw with Russia and win against Wales, but Hodgson has backed the former Liverpool man to play a part as England aim to book a quarter-final meeting with France on Sunday.

Wayne Rooney is restored to the team as captain, while Kyle Walker, Danny Rose, Harry Kane and Dele Alli also return, with Ryan Bertrand, Jack Wilshere, Jordan Henderson, Nathaniel Clyne, Adam Lallana and Jamie Vardy the six players who drop to the bench.
