Enda Stevens waits on ankle injury

Enda Stevens was substituted in the first half of Aston Villa’s 1-0 win against Reading last night.

ENDA STEVENS’ RUN in the Aston Villa first team will be put on hold if the Dubliner fails to recover from an ankle injury.

Villa travel to QPR on Saturday afternoon but there are doubts over Stevens’ fitness after he was forced off after 29 minutes against Reading last night.

Manager Paul Lambert says he will wait before taking any decision on the defender, who has been a regular at left-back since making his first Premier League start against Manchester United earlier this month.

“Enda went over on his ankle,” Lambert told the official site after Christian Benteke scored the only goal in Villa’s 1-0 win.

“It was a blow because he was playing well. I will need to see with him later in the week.”

Last night’s match was the fourth consecutive league start for Stevens, who moved to Villa Park from Shamrock Rovers in January.
