End of the road for Derval in Istanbul

It was a season’s best for the Cork hurdler but it’s not enough at the world indoors.

DERVAL O’ROURKE WILL go no further in the  World Indoor Track and Field Championships in Istanbul.

The Cork woman finished sixth in the semi-final of the 60m hurdles in a season’s best of 8.13 at the World Indoor Track and Field Championships in Istanbul this afternoon. The top four qualify for the final.

O’Rourke had a sluggish start with one of the slowest reaction times and she was unable to get herself back into contention,  she described her performance as disappointing.

Earlier in the day Ben Reynolds has put in a great performance on his championships debut to make it through to the 60m Hurdles semi-final 7.82 to take a fastest qualifier spot. His semi-final takes place at 12:45 tomorrow.
