Liverpool agree €12m deal to sign German midfielder Emre Can

The versatile 20-year-old is on his way to the Premier League runners-up after the Reds triggered his buyout clause.

LIVERPOOL HAVE ANNOUNCED that a deal is in place with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Emre Can.

The German U21 international, a highly-rated defensive midfielder who is also comfortable at full-back, will join the Reds subject to documentation being completed after they trigger his release clause with a bid £9.75m (€12m).

A former Bayern Munich player, Can joined Bayer Levekusen last summer and helped them finish fourth in the Bundesliga. He also made seven appearances in the Champions League last season.

It is Brendan Rodgers’ second signing of the summer after Rickie Lambert’s arrival from Southampton last week.
