Ameobi scores after just eight seconds of second half to spark Newcastle comeback

It was the striker’s first Premier League goal.

TALK ABOUT AN impact substitution. Sammy Ameobi picked the most opportune moment to score his first Premier League goal. Oh, and it came after just eight seconds of the second half.

After being on the back-foot for much of the first half and trailing at the break to Emmanuel Adebayor’s header, Newcastle desperately needed a moment of inspiration and the substitute duly delivered.

Ameobi latched onto a ball over the top before slotting past Hugo Lloris to spark a shift in momentum before the visitors completed the turnaround thanks to Ayoze Perez’s header just before the hour mark.

It was Newcastle’s second successive win and it may just be the catalyst to spark a change in their fortunes under Alan Pardew.

I remember Linekar tweeting that Spurs may have finally found a top class manager who knew what he was doing when they won their first 2 games ………… Don’t look that way now.

I think he is a good manager but don’t think he has the players. Like Liverpool, they spent big but bought poor players and only have Adebayor as their first choice striker. Little or no chance of top 4.
