MAYO GAA BOSSES say they hope to see Elvery’s-emblazoned jerseys at Croke Park late this summer as the company’s future was secured today.
The management team of the sports apparel company was approved as Elvery’s preferred investor by the retailer’s examiner this afternoon.
“Mayo GAA are pleased to hear that as of today, the examiner Simon Coyle has approved the Elverys Management Team as the preferred investor in the company,” a county board statement reads.
“This is tremendous news for all staff involved and will help to ensure that the 650 jobs at the 55 Elvery’s outlets across the country would be secure. We would also like to acknowledge the hard work of the SOSElverys700 team led by the staff who made the public aware of the danger they faced in relation to their jobs.

“Mayo GAA have a long-standing relationship and connection with Elvery’s and we are very proud to have a company of the magnitude of Elvery’s as our main sponsor and look forward to continuing that relationship going forward for the foreseeable future. Elvery’s will continue to be displayed on the jerseys of all our teams and no doubt will see many appearances in Croke Park in the latter stages of the year.”
The management team are believed to have beaten off competition from five other bidders including Newcastle United owner and Sports Direct boss, Mike Ashley.
