ELLEN KEANE HAS added World Para Swimming gold to her growing collection as Ireland won three medals on the concluding day of the inaugural meet in Copenhagen.
The Rio 2016 medallist started the day by claiming silver in the 100m butterfly final but went one better in the SM9 200m Individual Medley to cap a fine weekend for the Irish team.
Keane, who won bronze at the Paralympics last September, put in a commanding performance in her final event to storm to gold in a time of 2:42.87.
The Clontarf native is Irelandโs second gold medallist from the meet after Barry McClements, from Down, won yesterdayโs 400m freestyle.
15-year-old McClements added silver to his personal collection in the 100m butterfly earlier while Nicole Turner narrowly missed out on a medal by finishing fourth in the final of the 200m Individual Medley.
โIt was a good solid weekend of racing to begin the international season,โ team manager, Hayley Burke, said.
โThe World Series is a great opportunity for us to race against other international para-swimmers; normally we only get to do this at major championships so we believe this will benefit us massively moving forward. Always a bonus to come home with a medal or two โ weโll take four so.โ
The next leg of the series takes place in Sao Paulo on 21-23 April.

Great win. Next time weโll win the series :)
Excellent win 3 valuable points. The main thing is qualifying.
Nothing better than beating the Tans (including those that took the soup) at their own game.
@Daithi OโLiverpool FC:
Am I the only person who has no idea what that post means
@Mark Smith: yeah it is. But we canโt help a person who is a victim of their own ignorance: Belittles a sport they know nothing about, and the same one that was reason the GAA started in the first place โ a sport that doesnโt leave our shores!
Ireland bagged 10 WORLD Cup qualify points yesterday. Regardless of the series lost. With 30 up for grabs โ we got 10 and took 10 away from England. Note 10/11 players yesterday are born and bread on the island.
But donโt let the irony of that be lost on a person who also supports an English soccer club that plays an equally English sport.
And as for South African province of munsterโฆitโs clear heโs not worth the time of day
@Fuinneรณig รโFuigeann:
Glad you cleared it up
I hope you know what you mean because I sure as hell donโt
2 irish centuries!
@Cรดte Dโoherty: 3 of you include Morgan
