EDDIE BRENNAN HAS stepped down from his role as Kilkenny U21 hurling manager having guided the Cats to their first All-Ireland final at the grade in five years.
The former Allstar, and eight-time All-Ireland winner, has notified Kilkenny GAA of his decision and leaves the position after two years in the job.
Brennan’s management team of Richie Doyle, Richie O’Neill and Bob Aylward have also stepped down.
“Kilkenny GAA has thanked Eddie Brennan and his management team of Richie Doyle, Richie O’Neill and Bob Aylward for their work with the squad over the past two years and wishes them well for the future,” a county board statement read.
“The Board acknowledges the achievement of leading Kilkenny to their first Leinster title in this grade since 2012 and reaching the All-Ireland final for the first time also since 2012.”
After taking over from Brian Ryan in late 2015, Brennan led Kilkenny to a 25th Leinster title at U21 level this summer and oversaw their run to the All-Ireland final, where they were beaten by Limerick in Thurles.

Good luck to him but I’ll believe it when I see it.
Three weeks is quite a long time. Strange silence from all the medical professionals taking a break from surgery to pontificate on here about how he should have carried on playing.
@PJ Connolly: nothing more than 3 weeks, which is basically 2 weeks, max 2 and a half. That’s absolutely nothing! Muscle injuries are atleast six even for the slightest tears or strains!
@Lad: thanks doc!
Love to see him make it back to play the first game but youd have to worry about they uruguayans rattling him every opportunity they get. Id say they wont risk him
