Ex-UFC champion Eddie Alvarez visits Gaelic footballer involved in serious car accident

Tyrone man Aaron Elliot was left severely-injured after being struck by a vehicle in Philadelphia.

MMA FIGHTER EDDIE Alvarez has gone way up in our estimation after this selfless gesture.

The former UFC lightweight champion, who lost his belt to Conor McGregor last year, was asked on Twitter to retweet a GoFundMe link set up to help Tyrone man Aaron Elliot.

Having moved to Philadelphia last March, Aaron joined Kevin Barry’s Gaelic Football Club and soon became “an influential member of the Philadelphia GAA”.

However, on 26 August, he was struck by a car while out in Jenkinstown, Pennsylvania. Aaron was found unresponsive and without a pulse by police and paramedics, and the accident left him with a fractured skull.

He has already undergone a number of surgeries but is thankfully on the long road to recovery.

Instead of just retweeting the message, however, Alvarez asked for the hospital’s address and promised to visit when he got the chance.

And sure enough, Eddie showed up to lend his support to Aaron yesterday.
