EAMON DUNPHY LIVED up to his controversial reputation tonight, labelling Man United boss Louis van Gaal a “bullsh***er” and a “spoofer” during RTÉ’s post-match Champions League live coverage.
Dunphy famously apologised for swearing on air during the 2014 World Cup, but showed little hesitation in using another expletive in his assessment of the Man United manager tonight.

Host Darragh Maloney looked less than impressed with his colleague, saying: “I’m not having that… I know it’s after the watershed.”
Dunphy was responding to a post-match interview in which Van Gaal highlighted the set-up and system of his team as reasons for their success.
Brady claimed United’s play was “too slow” while Giles singled out Michael Carrick and Ander Herrera as “poor” in the first half, and the trio cited Luka Modric, Paul Scholes and Anders Iniesta as examples of the type of player United are missing.
The panel did, however, defend Wayne Rooney, with Dunphy claiming the striker had “silenced his critics… to an extent” with a hat-trick tonight, while Giles suggested the England international wasn’t missing many chances during his drought.
