IT TOOK EXTRA-time to separate St Sylvesters and Lucan Sarsfields in the Dublin SFC this evening, but the former held on for victory.
The sides played out an entertaining fixture in Finglas. St Sylvesters were four points up with 57 minutes played, but a Lucan penalty to narrow the gap to one ensured for a nervy ending.
They then went on to equalise through a free-kick with 62 minutes on the clock, and at 1-11 a-piece, the game headed for extra-time.
St Sylvester’s pulled away in the second-half of additional play to win by four and book their quarter-final spot.
Meanwhile, last year’s semi-finalists St Judes ran to a convincing victory over Skerries Harps.

They stormed to an extensive lead, and dominated all over the pitch. The half-time score was 0-11 to 0-2.
Skerries showed some intent on the restart. Despite being reduced to 14, they registered two scores but St Judes hit right back with a goal — which wasn’t recorded on the scoreboard until later in the game.
There was further drama then as the clock ran down, with Judes shown two red cards near the end.
The Templeogue outfit saw the game out to win by 16 points though.
In the third game of the night, Kilmacud Crokes progressed following a three-point win over Parnells.
Full-time scores:
St Jude’s 2-17 Skerries Harps 0-7
Kilmacud Crokes 0-15 Parnells 1-9
Lucan Sarsfields 1-12 St Sylvestres 1-16 (AET)
