Dundalk need an extra stand to cope with ticket demand for the title decider

Lilywhites expect their highest attendance in recent history for Friday’s winner-takes-all clash.

DUNDALK WILL BUILD a temporary stand to cope with ticket demand for Friday’s title decider against Cork City.

An extra 750 Lilywhites fans will be able to pack into Oriel Park as their side bid for a first Premier Division crown since 1995.

The club were forced to suspend ticket sales on Monday due to “incredible demand” ahead of the winner-takes-all clash.

Only a point separates the title rivals after Dundalk, the long-time leaders, drew in Bray last Friday and surrendered the advantage to Cork.

Tickets for the temp stand in the Carrick Road end go on sale on Wednesday morning at 9am and will be available to home fans only.

“We need all Dundalk supporters to understand that this match will have the highest attendance in recent history for Dundalk FC,” the club said in a statement.

“We require full co-operation with security on match night.”

“This stand is at huge cost to the club but we want to ensure that as many people can safely get into Oriel Park to support Stephen Kenny’s team.

“We are asking all supporters, especially those supporters who have Ground tickets and wish to watch the match from the Shed, to arrive as early as possible as restrictions will be in place.”
