Gutted … but Congrats to Dublin.
My both grannys from mayo i was nearly hoping for a draw, great final and i hope mayo win sam soon. O shea didnt show up in a final as usual, ogara never should have started hes not good enough. Great final for the fans . 3 in a row an impressive feat. Feels like years ago when qe waited 16 years for an all ireland. Mayo will have their day
@ryan o sullivan: Harsh on O’Shea. Dublin hit him early and often but he never stopped going. Didn’t see him come down with cramp despite all that. Not overly fond of him but he didn’t shy away today. Only criticism would be his shooting. Mayo need his likes to take on the difficult shots when the game is in the balance.
@ryan o sullivan: o sè had a good game. Check the possession stats.
@ryan o sullivan: of your two grannies are from mayo you’re not a Dub
@Jamie: born a bread a dub bud , both grandmother’s moved to the big smoke at 18. Did ya watch the game? What ya think
@Camroc: oshea did nothing but pass 90per cent ball he had backwards big man like him should be taking on players n bursting up the middle instead he can hardly solo the ball
@ryan o sullivan: class game ryan, mayo should have scored more in the first half when Dublin weren’t playing.Dunno Ryan think you’re half and half not a true Dub
@Jamie: haha been going the hill with my da since 94 , i feel for poor mayo but they had their chances . If only liverpool could sign a few dubs defenders haha
@ryan o sullivan: and I didn’t see “the best attackers in the country” showing up either…only scoring 1 point…oh but that might be down to having THE best half back in the country marking him, oh and keegan also scored more than him…
Stephen Cluxton the Father Stone of GAA
Am a Dub all the way but cant help but feel for Mayo.
@Aural Abuse: I’m a dub, but wanted mayo to win :(
@Paul Roche: Seriously??
The wides again cost Mayo
@rugbyanbeer: no, Mayo cost Mayo. Dean Rock missed two easy frees in the first and fisted a point when he should have taken a goal in the second. Could have, should have, would have. Dublin are a better team. They played poorly today yet still won. That was probably the best Mayo performance of all time yet they still came up short. Nobody to blame but themselves.
@Sean @114: Get grip Sean look at the stats Mayo didn’t let Dublin play well plain and simple. 3 in row well done but you know and everyone who watched that game knows they were very lucky. Also what about the penalty that was not awarded lucky lucky lucky end of.
Tremendous game of football. Hopefully Mayo can win Sam in 2018 as no other county deserves an All Ireland more. Great team and supporters.
@Accounting Pro: you dont deserve an All Ireland, mayo supporters around me were far from great, abusive nasty people
Vaughan was so silly mayo probably would have had a far better chance of winning had he not been sent off
@Jamie: How’s the bitterness today Jamie? Hope you’re all set for the 4 in a row. Super Dubs!!!
Well done Dublin on 3 in a row.As a neutral,it was a great game.BUT.Mayo missed at least 4-5 easy point chances.To beat Dublin, you prob can only miss 1-2.Besides that,Mayo were excellent.
The refree should get a allireland medal from Dublin he did not see a Dublin player punch a mayo player in the face in the first half. Limerick viewer
@padraig: Playing at home is always worth a few points…
@padraig: He also missed a definite black card for Aidam O’Shea. Missed Lee Keegan elbow Johnny Cooper. Missed Ciarán Kilkenny and Con O’Callaghan being dragged and pulled every time they went looking for the ball. Go home. You’re pished.
@TravellingTheWorld: Where do you suggest the All Ireland final take place then? The Nou Camp?
@Thomas McGilly: Also missed Lee Keegan throw his gps tracker at Dean Rock in injury time as he was running up to take the free. Also missed Cillian O’Connor throwing the knee into the back of Johnny Cooper while waiting for a free to be taken. Also forgot to move Dublin up the field when Mayo infringed and prevented the quick free (he was only short of taking the Mayo player up the field by the hand). But look at the end of the day the stat’s only show the winners and losers.
@padraig: your a sad sad person COYBIB
@padraig: how many wides did the ref kick ? how many balls did the ref drop short ? how many kick outs to touch did the ref do ?
@Thomas McGilly: He missed the penalty ye were very lucky you know it and everyone who watched the game knows it end of.
Pretty sure I heard Aogán Ó Fearghaíl near the side line shouting for a draw.
An absolute corker.. Ffs Mayo. I’m a Dub on the absolute maddest of sessions. Let me tell you we were run to the wire. Andy Moran : legend. Mayo come again. Please. Great fking team. Anyhows, SAM…. HOW THE FCK ARE YA!! COYBIB!!
@TravellingTheWorld: you sad see u next tuesday
@TravellingTheWorld: sounds like you’ve a few issues to work out mate. Start with that massive chip on your shoulder. C***
@TravellingTheWorld: what a disgusting & bitter comment
Mayo fans love S&M
Dublin underperformed on both ends. The better team won but the better team on the day, lost. Gutted for Mayo
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz No one cares. Football is about as entertaining as reading a telephone book. Another year suffering the media telling us how good Dublin are at every given opportunity is enough to make you ill. Football is a quickly dying sport that most people outside Dublin don’t actually care about. Congratulations to Dublin
@Ciaran Kehoe: haha. Bitter much?
@Ciaran Kehoe: what do u support?? that was a great all ireland final!! im a dub supporter and i think mayo deserved at least another run out in croke park. so do most dubs…it was only a few years ago dublin became the team they are..and maintained that consistency!! they are champions because they deserve to be champions…they are the best team of the decade…same as kerry previous…same as kilkenny were in hurling…anybody that says other wise dosnt know what they talking about..could be worse .u could watch english premier league and think that is entertainment
Sensational victory lol.
And the Curse lives on,
Up the Dubs
By the way, how fcking good is Johnny Cooper !! COYBIB !!!!
@Mrs. Nugent: Mayo fan, Johnny a great player as are all on the Dublin team, Gavin a fine manager, congrats to the Dubliners but oh so proud of the Mayo boys who were superb!
@Turk Oneeighttwo: classy. Could have easily gone the other way. Best of luck for next year.
@Turk Oneeighttwo: A proper fan, sir. Dignified in defeat. Lady luck shone down on Dublin today. Replay would of been the right result.. If Dublin can’t go again I’m getting a Mayo jersey. Fine team, great fans, and a gent of a manager. Overall a cracking day to be a Dub but good Jaysus where is Mayos luck. Fine margins.. proud to be irish, blessed to be a DUB !!
@Mrs. Nugent: Are you trying to skip out on your round at the bar? The session can’t be over yet.
@Mrs. Nugent: Cheers Mrs. Nugent, that session well deserved, football a winner too today between 2 sides who play proper attacking football the way its supposed to be played rather than the uber defensive muck which has attempted to destroy it. Dublin are a superbly talented athletic side whose fitness probably counted in the last 10 mins. Mayo matched them stride for stride, Dublin didn’t play badly as some pundits are making out, they were just up against a quality side.
We’ll live in continual hope in the West.
@Deborah Behan: as a neutral I’d say no-no it couldn’t easily have gone the other way. Mayo ahead by 2 with 8 min to go and from there they disintegrated. Dublin’s superiority was in their bench-I fear the next 3 All Ireland’s will be easier on them-and they haven’t shown up for the this or last years finals yet have still triumphed
Really enjoyed those photos!
The rush of blood to the head by Vaughan coupled with the free that hit the post. That’s what finished Mayo. Even Hawkeye came down on the Dubs side!!!
