Donations pour in for charity of runner who died after Dublin Marathon

Ricki Savage passed away after suffering a heart attack in Monday’s race.

THE ONLINE FUNDRAISING page of the runner who died following Monday’s Dublin Marathon has received huge support in the past 12 hours.

27-year-old Ricki Savage collapsed on Merrion Square having suffered a heart attack after finishing the race and despite the best efforts of St John Ambulance and St Vincent’s Hospital staff, passed away yesterday.

Savage, a member of Thanet Roadrunners Athletic Club in Kent, England, was taking part in his first marathon with the aim of raising money for the British Heart Foundation.

Through JustGiving.com, people have been donating to the cause and, since his untimely death, the total has rocketed from £180 to £3,250 where it currently stands.
