In the curtain-raiser, Kildare enter the game after clinching back-to-back football league promotions. They lost the Division 3 decider last April but won their previous Division 2 final appearance, back in 2012 against Tyrone.
Galway will be chasing a first senior football win in Croke Park since 2001 and hope to follow up last Sunday’s league victory over the Lilywhites in Pearse Stadium.
