Maguire returns in goal as Dublin hurlers make 3 changes for crunch Cork clash

The Dubs will be aiming to keep their season alive when they face the Rebels at Páirc Uí Rinn tomorrow night.

DUBLIN SENIOR HURLING manager Ger Cunningham has recalled goalkeeper Gary Maguire to his starting line-up for their clash with Cork.

Having been dumped out of their respective provincial championships after disappointing performances against Kilkenny and Tipperary, the Dubs and the Rebels will meet in a crucial All-Ireland senior hurling qualifier on Leeside tomorrow evening [Páirc Uí Rinn, 7pm].

The return of Maguire between the posts at the expense of his Ballyboden St Enda’s clubmate Conor Dooley is one of three personnel changes Cunningham has made from the side that lost by 12 points to the Cats in Portlaoise three weeks ago.

The other two amendments are in attack, with Paul Ryan and Mark Schutte coming into the forward line. Daire Plunkett moves from wing-forward to midfield in place of Darragh O’Connell, while Dotsy O’Callaghan is the other player who makes way.

The Cork team is due to be named at 10pm tonight.

Hopefully Dotsy is being saved to be used as an impact sub, he’s as valuable a player as Dublin have had in the last five years. Good to see Maguire back, Dooley might come good in future years, but he’s been very shaky this year.

We need a ball-winner in the half-forward line. O’dwyer is great for keeping the ball there but doesn’t catch many. Were shown up badly against Kilkenny. Hopefully we win this and make it back to Croker where the shirt passing tactics work better
