PAT GILROY HAS been named as the new manager of the Dublin hurlers on a three-year term after a meeting of the county committee.
He saw off competition from Mattie Kenny, who led Cuala to the All-Ireland club hurling title last March.

Gilroy and Kenny were the two names left in the running as the Dublin management committee met this evening, but they decided on the St Vincent’s man, who was ratified by the county committee on a three-year term.
Gilroy stepped down as Dublin football manager in 2012, after three years at the helm. A former dual player with his club, he is expected to announce former Galway boss Anthony Cunningham as part of his backroom team.
A member of the 1995 All-Ireland winning team, in 2011 Gilroy delivered Dublin’s first All-Ireland in 16 years. His professional career took him to London five years ago, but a change in jobs earlier this year saw him move back to Ireland.
