Dublin up and running with win over UCD in Walsh Cup quarters

Anthony Daly saw his side run out five-point winners against the college side.

THE DUBLIN HURLERS make a winning start to their 2014 competitive season at Parnell Park.

Anthony Daly’s men ran out 2-20 to 2-15 winners over UCD.  The Dubs will now face off against Wexford in the last four next Sunday.

The college side were reduced to 14 men in the second half when Willie Egan picked up a second yellow card.

Paul Ryan scored the All-Ireland semi-finalists’ first goal from a free before he added a second after 50 minutes.

There was seven survivors from the side that started against Cork in last August’s All-Ireland semi-final defeat – Peter Kelly, Joseph Boland, Johnny McCaffrey, Ryan O’Dwyer, Conal Keaney, David O’Callaghan and Paul Ryan.
