The Defence Forces’ bomb disposal team were called to the site near Capel Street.
No other injuries were reported, a spokesperson for gardaí said.
An explosion took place inside the hostel on Little Britain Street in Dublin 1, after 3.30pm this afternoon.
Explosive experts were called to the scene earlier this evening.
