Gavin loses two of his Dubs backroom at the outset of new campaign

Ray Boyne and Michael Kennedy have both stepped down due to work and personal reasons.

JIM GAVIN FACES a backroom reshuffle after two of his Dublin management team informed him that they won’t be returning this season.

Head of performance analysis Ray Boyne and selector Michael Kennedy have both stepped down due to work and personal reasons.

Boyne first joined the Dubs under Paul ‘Pillar’ Caffrey and has been the capital’s ‘stats man’ for the last nine seasons, including the All-Ireland wins in 2011 and 2013.

But he informed Gavin that he was unable to continue due to work commitments as Ulster Bank’s Head of Corporate Services, and after taking time to consider the decision, he confirmed that he is stepping down.

“[I want] to thank the three managers I served over the nine years, all the coaches and players I worked with and the County Board for extending me the great privilege of working with Dublin,” Boyne told TheScore.ie.

Kennedy, who is the director of DCU’s GAA academy, first worked alongside Gavin with the Dublin U21s before becoming a senior selector last season.
