Dublin and Galway to meet again after Tullamore thriller

Niall McMorrow was the hero for Anthony Daly’s side, who had two players sent off in extra time.

THE RELEGATION PLAY-OFF between Dublin and Galway finished all square at Tullamore, with the pair set to meet again.

It ended Dublin 2-20 Galway 0-26 in the AHL Division 1A clash.

The Dubs seemed to be doomed until Niall McMorrow drilled over a ’65′ deep into extra time. Anthony Daly’s side had seen both Ryan O’Dwyer and Alan McCrabbe sent off in the opening period of extra-time, McCrabbe having just seen his penalty saved.

Joe Canning came in for his first appearance of the season for Galway, but it was Dublin that had the half-time lead of 0-9 to 0-7.

Goals from Conor McCormack and Ross O’Carroll nullified the threat from a resurgent Galway in the second half, putting the Metropolitans into a 2-11 to 0-15 lead, before Canning started to dominate proceedings.

The young attacker managed a flurry of scores to leave it as 2-15 to 0-21 at the end of normal time.

It seemed that Galway would complete an impressive comeback with their two-man advantage, but Dublin were dogged and McMorrow’s stunning point ensured a rematch.
