Drogheda and Dundalk play out thrilling Louth derby draw

It finished two apiece in Oriel Park on Thursday night.

THE 150th LOUTH derby ended in a thrilling two all draw as Dundalk scored two goals in a matter of minutes to earn a draw against local rivals Drogheda.

The Drogs opened the scoring after 20 minutes through Graham Rusk who pounced despite appearing to be in an offside position.

It stayed that way until twenty minutes from time when the 2,200 in attendance saw Ryan Brennan double the visitor’s advantage.

However, Dundalk responded with a free kick almost immediately through Keith Ward.

They were right back in it just a couple of minutes later when John Dillon equalised from the spot after Alan Byrne was sent off for taking down Mulvenna.

However, despite some chances for both teams, neither side was able to find a winner.
