Four-goal Down easily overcome Louth in difficult conditions

Goals from Donal O’Hare, Benny Coulter (2) and Conor Maginn helped the hosts secure a win.

DOWN EASED TO victory with a 4-16 to 0-9 win over Louth in Division 2 of the National Football League this evening.

Goals from Donal O’Hare, Benny Coulter (2) and Conor Maginn enabled an easy win for Down amid wet and windy conditions at Pairc Esler.

Louth’s misery was then completed late on in the second half, when Brian White was sent off for a high challenge on Conor Lavery.

Down’s win never looked in doubt as O’Hare’s goal helped the hosts into a 1-8 to 0 lead, before Darren Clarke finally got Louth’s first point.

Coulter’s goal then made the victory sure, before Maginn put the icing on the cake late on.
