Doug Howlett to miss Munster's Heineken Cup games with Scarlets

New Zealand man will undergo a scan early this week to determine the damage he sustained in Wales on Saturday.

MUNSTER CHIEFS SAY Doug Howlett will miss the upcoming back-to-back Heineken Cup clashes with Scarlets.

The province confirmed last night that the New Zealander will have a scan and see a specialist early this week ‘to determine the exact nature of the injury he sustained’ against Ospreys on Saturday.

Initial examinations suggest he’s damaged his achilles tendon. Thomond Park officials have decided that Howlett is out of the Pool 1 games however.

The former All Black star scored a try against Ospreys at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday but the visitors ultimately lost out, on a scoreline of 19-13.
