MUNSTER MAY BE planning for life without their Australian-born head coach Tony McGahan but Thomond Park chiefs have ensured that Doug Howlett will not be returning to the southern hemisphere any time soon.
The former All Black star has signed a contract extension, keeping him in Limerick until the end of the 2012/13 season.
“I’m obviously delighted to have agreed terms,” Howlett said today. “My family and I are very happy here in Munster, it’s home to us and we’re very much looking forward to remaining here.”
Howlett joined Munster during the 2007/08 season and has scored 32 tries since making his debut in the January 2008.

Earlier this week, Tony McGahan confirmed he would be taking up a job with the Wallabies. Last night, New Zealand great John Kirwan admitted he’d be interesting in taking to Munster chiefs about the vacancy.
