Double signing: Redknapp and McCarthy join MOTD panel

The BBC have announced the capture of the pair for this season’s highlights show.

TWO OUT OF work Premier League managers have found themselves a gig on the Match Of The Day sofa.

Harry Redknapp, who departed Totteham Hotspur during the summer after four years in charge of the North Londoners, and former Wolves boss Mick McCarthy will join host Gary Lineker and regulars Alan Hansen and Alan Shearer on the BBC’s Saturday night programme this season.

MOTD, which has been criticised for its poor punditry in recent years, hope the pair will freshen up the highlights show after Lee Dixon’s recent move to ITV.

The Beeb said: ”Popular members of the BBC’s Euro 2012 team Harry Redknapp and Mick McCarthy will appear alongside familiar faces Alan Hansen and Alan Shearer throughout the season.

Former Tottenham manager Redknapp and ex-Wolves boss McCarthy will bring their considerable managerial expertise and experience to the country’s most popular football programme.”
