Double goal hero Pearse Hanley shows his GAA skills at MCG

The Mayoman helped the Lions to a rout of the Demons on an emotional day at the MCG.

THE NAME OF one Irishman was on the minds of many on the first day of the AFL season earlier.

But it was Pearse Hanley who took the headlines on the Melbourne Demon’s first outing since Jim Stynes’ emotional farewell last week.

Hanley’s Brisbane Lions took advantage as the Demons fell flat on an emotional day, losing by 41 points at the MCG. The young Mayo man showed great emotion himself and playing in defence he charged forward twice to kick two big goals, including this one straight from Croke Park:.
