CONTRARY TO REPORTS on social networking sites, Kenny Dalglish did not give up his compensation payment from Liverpool’s owners and tell them to spend the money on new signings.
Twitter was rife with stories that the Anfield legend, who was sacked on Wednesday after seeing his side slump to an eighth-placed finish in the Premier League, had refused the £8million he was owed in severance pay.

However, the Liverpool Echo reports that the story is not true and that Dalglish, quite rightly, negotiated a confidential package and walked away with the pay-off from the Fenway Sports Group.
Meanwhile, the Daily Telegraph is reporting that former Chelsea manager Andre Villas Boas will hold talks with Liverpool about the vacant manager’s job next week.
The Portuguese’s agent Carlos Goncalves said the 34 year-old would be keen to return to the Premier League.
“If an interesting project comes about, we will certainly take it into consideration,” he said.
Wigan manager Roberto Martinez remains the favourite to take over from Dalglish, though there are reportedly as many as a dozen names in the frame for the job.
