He will leave Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg to join rivals Bayern Munich, his manager said today.
“I was contacted by Karl-Heinz Rummenigge who confirmed that Bayern and Wolfsburg have agreed on Manduzkic’s transfer,” Ivan Cvjetkovic told AFP.
“Since it was the Bayern chairman who called me I consider the transfer settled.”
The news of the 26-year-old striker’s transfer was expected to be announced on Bayern’s website soon, he said, but refused to elaborate. Local media reported that Mandzukic was to sign a three-year-deal for which Bayern would pay €13million.
Mandzukic, dubbed ‘Super Mario’, scored three goals in total for Croatia at Euro 2012 in Poland. However, he could not save his side from being eliminated in the group stage as though they beat the Irish and drew with Italy they lost to Spain which saw the Italians deprive them of second spot.
