Ryder Cup star suffers severe finger injury 'after losing fight with chainsaw'

Jamie Donaldson is targeting a return to competitive action early next month.

RYDER CUP STAR Jamie Donaldson has suffered a severe finger injury after a mishap with a chainsaw.

The Welshman, whose point in a singles match against Keegan Bradley secured the 2014 Ryder Cup for Europe, tweeted a gruesome picture of his finger following its repair.

The injury to the little finger on his left hand required a number of stitches and will sideline Donaldson for a number of weeks.

The 40-year-old has his sights set on a return at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, which begins on 4 February.

He had been due to play at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship this week.
