Donald and Casey tied for lead in Atlanta

Donald builds up for Ryder Cup, while Casey builds up to what might have been.

PAUL CASEY AND Luke Donald are tied with Australian Geoff Ogilvy at four under for the lead at the Tour Championship in Atlanta after the first round.

Donald is a wildcard in the European Ryder Cup team, and fired four under-par 66s to go ahead of Jim Furyk in the leaderboard. Casey put up his best score since being controversially overlooked by European captain Colin Montgomery to send what many deem a message of intent to Monty.

Casey, though, dismissed the ‘message of intent’ theorem: “I’m not getting wrapped up in any sort of extra motivation,” Casey said. “I don’t need extra motivation. I’m motivated enough.”

The Championship is the final event in the FedEx Cup series- which decides the overall leader of the PGA Tour. The leader of the PGA Tour gets a $10 million prize.
