Ken Doherty falls at final hurdle in bid to qualify for world championship

The Dubliner won just a single frame against Wales’ Ryan Day this evening.

KEN DOHERTY HAS fallen at the final hurdle in his bid to qualify for this year’s World Snooker Championship in The Crucible, Sheffield.

Doherty was leading Wales’ Ryan Day 5-4 in their best-of-19 clash ahead of today’s qualifying action, with a spot in the main draw on the line.

But world number 20 Day was dominant this evening as he eventually ran out a 10-6 winner at Ponds Forge in Sheffield.

Others to secure their spots in the main draw included former world number one Ding Junjui of China and former world champions Peter Ebdon and Graeme Dott.
