Is Disney making a new film about Jesse Owens?

The story of Owens’ remarkable success at the 1936 Olympics is set for a big-screen makeover.

DISNEY IS SET to make a film about the life of American track and field star Jesse Owens.

Variety reports that the untitled film will be based on “Triumph,” the book written by ESPN’s Jeremy Schaap on Owens’ historic triumph at the 1936 Olympics in Nazi Germany.

Owens won four gold medals, scuppering Hitler’s plans to use the Berlin Games to promote the Nazi ideology of Aryan supremacy.

Screenwriter David Seidler, who won an Oscar for his work on “The King’s Speech,” is to write the screenplay.
