Arrest warrant issued for Australia winger Digby Ioane -- reports

Ioane, 27, is charged with unlawful assault following an alleged incident earlier this year.

A WARRANT HAS been issued for the arrest of Australian winger Digby Ioane, according to reports this morning.

The Courier-Mail and the AAP newswire both report that a magistrate ordered Ioane’s arrest after he failed to appear in court on Monday.

The 27-year-old, who played in Saturday’s first Test defeat against the Lions, is charged with unlawful assault following an alleged incident in a Melbourne pub in March.

Ioane was expected to present himself at Melbourne Magistrates Court but instead was at a Wallabies training session across town at Carlton’s Visy Park.

The Wallabies confirmed at 11am [Irish time] that both Ioane and centre Pat McCabe were ruled out of the remainder of the Test series with respective shoulder and neck injuries.

Berrick Barnes will miss the Second Test but hopes to return for the Third Test in Sydney on 6 July. As of today, Christian Leali’ifano, who was knocked out in the opening minute of Saturday’s 23-21 victory for the Lions, remains in contention for Saturday.
