THE 1-1 DRAW WITH Germany in Ibaraki back in 2002 is up there as one of Ireland’s greatest World Cup results.
Miroslav Klose, now the all-time record goalscorer at the World Cup, opened the scoring on 19 minutes before Robbie Keane dramatically rescued a point for the Boys in Green by firing past Oliver Kahn two minutes into injury time.
The two opposing players wearing number eight that day were Matt Holland and Dietmar Hamann. The pair, now retired and working as pundits, swap shirts at the final whistle 12 years ago and Hamann tweeted a pic of himself wearing the shirt to his old friend today.
Dietmar Hamann still has a soft spot for his 2002 Ireland jersey
