AC Milan's Diego Lopez had his very own Peter Enckelman moment last weekend

Lopez conceded a disastrous own goal and tweaked his hammy in the process.

GIVEN THE LEAGUE this game was played in and the manner in which AC Milan’s Diego Lopez conceded this ridiculous own goal, it would be easy (and fun) to bandy around various conspiracy theories regarding certain illegal activities.

I won’t do that (but you should feel free). Anyway, Lopez injured his hamstring in this farcical incident too, so it really was a calamitous turn of events for the goalkeeper.

That own goal is very reminiscent of Peter Enckelman allowing an Olaf Mellberg throw in to slip under his leg in a Villa-Birmingham match, which coincidentally was 12 years ago today.

Which own goal was a bigger clanger? Personally, I will always have a soft spot for Enckelman’s sad sack buffoonery.
