UFC Dublin headliner Diego Brandao has been cut by the organisation following his arrest

Brandao is in hot water in Albuquerque.

A BAD FEW MONTHS for Diego Brandao has culminated in the Brazilian fighter being released from his contract with the UFC.

Brandao was arrested following an assault in Albuquerque earlier this month, having allegedly been involved in an altercation with security at a strip club.

Brandao was accused of pistol-whipping an employee and pointing the weapon at others. The 28-year-old featherweight was arrested on charges that included aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault.

Following an initial report by Sherdog, Steven Marrocco of MMAjunkie writes that Brandao has now been cut loose by the UFC due to violations of the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy.

In January, Brandao was submitted by Brian Ortega at UFC 195 — after which he tested positive for marijuana. The fighter was subsequently placed on temporary suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Brandao, who won the 14th series of The Ultimate Fighter, went 6-4 during a UFC tenure which lasted just over four years.

Prior to his loss to Ortega, Brandao bounced back from a defeat to Conor McGregor in the main event at UFC Dublin in July 2014 by picking up first-round TKO wins against both Jimy Hettes and Katsunori Kikuno.
