Not a great look, eh? Business Insider.

Stay flexible without leaving your desk by doing these three stretches

Tighten up your swivel chair and straighten up your spine because you’re about to feel much better.

A LONG DAY of sitting at your desk can make even the most leisurely of after-work activities feel like a tortuous chore.

There are ways of combating the fatigue, however.

If you’re not in a very crowded office – or plain just don’t care about any funny looks that might come across the partition – then here are three stretches you can do without leaving your swivel chair.

Here, Tracey Mallett says these actions can help combat backaches and some lower-body pains that develop from working at a desk all day.

Right, close down Facebook, move your face away from the screen and we’ll begin.

Stretch 1:

Place your hands down on your thighs, roll your shoulders back so that your chest is out and your spine is straight.

Is your head a few inches above where you started? Good. Hold that position as you move into the next bit.

Stretch 2:

Keep your feet on the floor in front of you and twist yourself around far enough to hold the back of your chair (with your right hand when turning right). Hold that for 5-10 seconds and then do the same on the other side.

Stretch 3:

Okay, so the chair isn’t really necessary here when we’re aiming to stretch out the hip flexors, but it can be useful for balance and ensuring you keep your thigh up and at a right angle to your shin.

Once your front foot is planted, ensure you’re putting pressure down on your hind foot. Hold your abs in and push your hips forward as you raise the arm furthest from the chair directly into the air. Yep, that’s your hip flexor you’re feeling.

Now you’re ready for more than the couch this evening.
