FIERY HEAVYWEIGHT DERECK Chisora has been fined ยฃ25,000 (โฌ29,600) and received a suspended two-year ban for hurling a table at a press conference to promote Saturdayโs bitter bout with British champion Dillian Whyte.
The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC) โ who have withdrawn 32-year-old Zimbabwe-born Chisoraโs licence before for disciplinary reasons โ have also deemed the fight will no longer be for the British title.
It will, however, still be a WBC world heavyweight title eliminator fight, although the duo will weigh in at different times and not face-off as Wednesdayโs ill-tempered press conference is not the first time they have clashed out of the ring.
โThe Board considered the matter with great care and concern,โ read a statement form the BBBC.
โMr Chisoraโs previous record, which is not good, was considered, as was a letter written to him, his opponent Dillian Whyte, his manager and the promoters by the General Secretary of the Board, dated the 16th November 2016, warning them that they should not misbehave and bring the sport of boxing into disrepute prior to the contest.
โHaving viewed and listened to a recording of what occurred the Board concluded that Mr. Chisoraโs behaviour fell far short of that expected from a licensed boxer.
Indeed his behaviour was wholly unacceptable and deserving of punishment.โ
Chisora previously fell foul of the BBBC when they banned him for his behaviour before and after a world title fight with Vitali Klitschko in 2012.
They withdrew his licence to box after he slapped Klitschko at their weigh-in for the world title bout in Munich and spat water in the face of his opponentโs brother, Wladimir.
Chisora subsequently brawled with former world heavyweight champion David Haye at the post-bout press conference after they exchanged insults.
Chisora and Whyteโs unappetising promotion for the bout โ which is on the undercard of Anthony Joshuaโs world heavyweight title defence against Eric Molina in Manchester โ comes a week after Haye threw a punch at fellow Briton and WBC cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew in a press conference to promote their fight next March.

Better staying in a team where he gets game time and no pressure.
@Red Rooster: or show ambition and get a big move, playing under pressure week in week out and thriving.
@Red Rooster: I hope they can afford to keep for at least a season if not two before they sell him, but thereโs no way theyโll keep him for 5 years if he kicks on this season.
@David: loads of time for that, remember heโs only 18
@David: r go to a big club get sweet f all mins. Thing donโt go right. Fickle fans on his back. Heโs 18 and miles off a top club regular. Amazing talent and prospect but donโt get the Irish blinkers on heโs no where near ready for leading the line for a top side.
@David: Whoโs to say he will start week in week out if he does as you said?
Ridiculous the amount of hype around Evan, heโs had one season in the Prem and not even starting for Brighton. Wait till he nails down his place and starts scoring double figure goals before heโs called a replacement for Harry Kane.
And then he broke out in a fit of laughter!
