ARSENAL PAID TRIBUTE to one of their best-ever players today as they unveiled this new statue of club legend Dennis Bergkamp.

The Dutchman and his family were joined by large crowd at the Emirates Stadium ahead of this afternoon’s game against Sunderland.

“This is such a special moment to come back and be honoured in this way,” he said.

The statue shows Bergkamp in action against Newcastle United in 2003, leaping to control a long ball as it dropped over his head.

“Everyone knows I love Arsenal and I had such a great time at the club,” Bergkamp said.

“The fans, the staff and my team-mates were fantastic. The team was also amazing and we had a lot of success over the years.

“For me and my family it was such an important and enjoyable period in our lives.”
