It will be Connerton’s third year in succession to manage the county, while he previously served as manager between 2002 and 2004.

The Rathcline clubman preserved Longford’s Division 3 status over the past two years, while also securing qualifier wins over Down and Monaghan in 2016 and Louth this summer.

The Longford Leader have reported that Ciaran Fox and Enda Macken, who served as selectors in the past two seasons, are to stay on board but Derek Ryan will step away due to other commitments.

Strength and conditioning coach Trevor Smullen also won’t be part of the set-up next year as he is studying abroad.
