'My mind can take the struggle but my body knows this can't go on forever'

Denis Bastick is the subject of AIG’s latest Dublin GAA video.

AT 35 YEARS old, Denis Bastick is very much the elder statesman of Jim Gavin’s well-oiled Dublin football machine — but he remains as finely-tuned as any of his team-mates.

The three-time All-Ireland winning midfielder is the subject of AIG Insurance’s latest #DublinOurTeam video series, and it gives us an insight into the sacrifices he makes on a daily basis.

Bastick’s drive, determination and appetite for further success is unquestionable but he knows his body won’t be able to deal with the strain of inter-county football forever.

“My heart can take the pounding, my mind can take the struggle but my body knows this can’t go on forever so who knows what’s around the corner,” he says.
